My conquest for ‘New Media’ and how to better promote music from both an artist and label standpoint is pretty much never ending… As you’ve seen in previous posts where I’ve attempted to sort through some of the finest websites and services that are offered and dissect some of the best ways for independent artists to market their selves with the never ending supply of ‘New Media’ that is available to them. So what is this ramble about?
… MORE NEW STUFF TO BE AWARE OF!
I’ve mentioned this company before but I want to send my best wishes to CD BABY who is celebrating their 10th Birthday this month!
CD BABY is a fantastic way for independent artists to sell their music online and have their CD’s shipped virtually anywhere in the World. They can also have you set up on such popular digital download sites as iTunes, Napster etc… Diminished Fifth uses them to do our shipping outside of Canada.
Check out our following products currently listed on CD BABY
ORCHID’S CURSE
DISCHORD
THE MUSIC OF ARTISANSHIP & WAR
The companies founder Derek Sivers has a fantastic Blog you should check out HERE
Likewise, below I have listed some other great Blog’s by other
forward-thinkers in the Music Industry:
I strongly urge you to check out these Blogs they are truly a wealth of information. Also if you know any other good music blogs or websites please leave me a comment or email me at: info@diminishedfifthrecords.com
What most Independent Artist's fail to see is that there are no longer gatekeepers (big label's) stopping bands from having their music heard, by hundreds, thousands and even millions of listeners. The digital world and downloading doesn't hurt indie artists, or indie labels, it only hurts the big labels that have been exploiting music and arts for well over a quarter century. We are all standing on a pivotal time in the music industry and I, for one, am excited to see what is next!
Lastly, and I realize I’ve said this before, but in the next few weeks we’ll be making some announcements about some upcoming and innovative D5R Projects.
Cheers & Horns High!
